RAIL-TERM LLC, a subsidiary of Siemens Mobility, is a leading provider of rail services to railroads and transit agencies. We are hiring Rail Traffic Controllers (Dispatchers) to coordinate and manage the dispatching of 54 railroads across the United States and parts of Canada. This fast-paced role involves fielding calls from train crews, municipal authorities, and the public regarding train permissions and emergencies along the tracks.

Position Overview: We will train you to handle incoming calls, ask the right questions, and gather vital details to determine the next steps to ensure safety. You will coordinate train movements to optimize operations and safeguard all train movements and track equipment/employees. The training rate is $17.10/hour, and once qualified (typically in 4-6 months), your rate increases to $24.51/hour.

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Be flexible and available for rotating shifts (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am). Shift premiums apply for second and third shifts, including some weekends.
  • Be able to multitask and prioritize, managing multiple monitors and viewing many trains simultaneously. You should learn travel times, speeds, and distances to keep operations smooth, handling over 100 calls per shift.
  • Be willing and capable to learn, adhering to FRA regulations, navigating various computer systems, and typing quickly to relay critical information promptly.

Minimum requirements include:

  • High School Diploma; post-secondary education is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Digital literacy (MS Office Suite)
  • Criminal background check, drug testing (including random screens)
  • DOT physical, including hearing and color blindness tests
