Base pay range

$19.00/hr - $26.00/hr

Job Responsibilities
  • Pre-dispatch vehicles for the next day, ensuring adequate resources for scheduled call volume and overflow.
  • Receive calls from 911, hospitals, outpatient satellites, and residences requesting transportation.
  • Assign calls to ambulance units based on care level (BLS, ALS, SCT, RN, WC) efficiently and accurately.
  • Rearrange calls as needed due to vehicular issues, traffic, or urgent requests.
  • Utilize TraumaSoft to assign trips, considering crew schedules and customer needs.
  • Coordinate with management to call in staff for upcoming shifts to ensure smooth pre-dispatching.
  • Act as a call-taker/communicator when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Graduate
  • At least one year of experience as a BMT Communicator or equivalent.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 24-hour environment, with a schedule of four days on and four days off.
  • Prompt attendance and willingness to work mandatory holdovers (up to 24 hours).
  • Ability to prioritize decisions based on multiple criteria and policies.
  • Capability to sit for extended periods and view monitors.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations and react quickly.
  • Proficiency with telephone and communication equipment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Good memory for details from various resources.
  • Pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
  • EMT experience is a plus but not required.
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Previous EMS experience, EMT or higher, is advantageous.
