Job summary

Union Pacific Corporation is seeking a Welder Helper in the Engineering department. The role involves repairing, tempering, and cutting rails, with responsibilities to maintain track sections across Union Pacific's network.

You will work under safety guidelines and may need to travel across the 23-state system. The position requires a valid driver's license and a CDL (Class A or B) obtainable during probation, with English proficiency tested as part of the interview process.

Qualifications

• Possess a current and valid driver's license.
• Hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) of Class A or B, or able to obtain during probation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interpret regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform track maintenance activities such as repairs, installations, and component removals as required.
• Utilize load/unload devices to handle and transport track materials and equipment.
• Monitor track conditions and right-of-way, observe passing trains for shifted loads or spillages.
• Operate equipment safely to drive spikes, tighten or loosen track bolts, and use pullers to remove spikes.
• Maintain trackbed by replacing and compacting ballast and assisting in unloading ballast from ballast cars.
• Foster positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and customers; manage conflicts.
• Ensure compliance with FRA safety rules and regulations; perform additional duties as assigned.
