Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is hiring a Welder Helper in the United States. You will assist in repairing, tempering, and cutting rails, frogs, and switches to support safe railway operations across North America.

Required to obtain a CDL during probation and to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT). FMCSA medical qualifications apply. Will involve outdoor, physically demanding work and travel across the system.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid driver's license.
• CDL Class A or B, or ability to obtain one during probation.
• Ability to interpret regulations and instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must complete an English assessment prior to interview.

Responsibilities

• Perform track maintenance such as repairs and installations.
• Operate load/unload devices for track materials.
• Monitor track conditions and right-of-way during shifts.
• Drive spikes, adjust track bolts, and use pullers for spikes.
• Maintain trackbed and ballast; assist in unloading ballast.
• Foster safe, cooperative relationships with team and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with FRA safety rules and regulations.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
