Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Welder Helper to support track maintenance and welding tasks across its network. The role involves repairing, tempering, and cutting rails, frogs, and switches, with emphasis on safety and efficiency to keep trains moving across North America.

Required CDL (A/B) or eligibility, valid driver’s license, and English assessment. The position requires physical stamina, travel, and adherence to FRA regulations. Training will be provided during probation.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current and valid driver’s license.
• CDL Class A or B, or eligible to obtain during probation.
• Ability to interpret regulations and instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must complete an English assessment before interview.

Responsibilities

• Perform track maintenance activities such as repairs, installations, and component removals.
• Use load/unload devices to handle track materials.
• Monitor track conditions and observe right-of-way.
• Operate equipment to drive spikes and adjust track bolts.
• Maintain trackbed and ballast; unload ballast.
• Foster positive relationships with colleagues and customers; manage conflicts.
• Ensure compliance with FRA safety rules.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
