Job summary

Union Pacific Corporation is seeking Welder Helpers to maintain and repair railroad tracks, including welding tasks on rails, frogs, and switches. You will be involved in track repair, tempering, and cutting, contributing to safe and efficient train movement across North America.

Eligibility includes becoming a UP-certified driver during probation, meeting FMCSA medical qualifications, and passing an English assessment before interview.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass an English assessment before interview.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL during probation if required.
• Able to understand and interpret regulations and instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform track maintenance, repairs, installations and component removals as required.
• Use load/unload devices to handle track materials and equipment.
• Monitor track conditions and right-of-way; watch for shifted loads or spillages.
• Drive spikes, tighten/loosen track bolts, and use pullers.
• Assist in ballast replacement and unloading ballast from ballast cars.
• Maintain positive relations with colleagues and customers; manage conflicts.
• Comply with FRA safety rules and regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
