Job summary

Watco Transloading LLC is hiring a Track Laborer in Freeport, TX. This is a full-time, hourly role requiring inspection, repair, and maintenance of railroad track infrastructure.

The position includes on-site duties, training opportunities, and a path to development through Watco University programs. Starting pay is $21.00 per hour with safety-focused responsibilities and required certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass and/or obtain required reporting, testing and certifications.
• Track Ground School and safety-related trainings.
• FRA General Code of Operating Rules written test.
• Roadway Worker Protection written test.
• Fall Protection written test.
• Maintenance of Way safety written test.
• MSHA/OSHA training and certification (if required on site).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain railroad track infrastructure to ensure safe service.
• Assist with loading/unloading and installation of rail components and track materials.
• Assist with inspection, grinding, fabrication, and repair of rails and track components.
• Assist with construction and maintenance of track turnouts, switches, and infrastructure.
• Read gauges, schematics and maintenance manuals; follow safety rules and procedures.
• Operate equipment such as backhoe and track hoe.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting as required.
