Job summary

MTA Metro-North Railroad is seeking a skilled technician to provide electrical, mechanical, and analytical support for maintenance facilities to ensure safe, reliable rolling stock. The role oversees diagnostics for EMU, Diesel, and Push-Pull equipment and supervises agreement staff delivering technical assistance to shop personnel.

Qualifications

• AA in Electrical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience allowed.
• Possess two additional years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• Minimum 3 years repairing/diagnosing EMU, Diesel, or Push-Pull equipment.
• Minimum 2 years managing staff and/or projects.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and analyze EMU, Diesel, and Push-Pull equipment.
• Ensure released equipment meets Federal and Metro North standards.
• Oversee test train activities to evaluate performance.
• Maintain documentation of repairs, defects, and actions taken.
• Guide shop and field personnel in troubleshooting and repairs.
• Supervise agreement personnel and support administrative duties.
