Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Rail Site Development Engineer to support our Rail Team. You will lead civil site development design for rail projects, coordinating with multiple disciplines, clients and sub-consultants to deliver robust infrastructure solutions.

You will mentor staff, apply standard engineering techniques, and support project execution across varying scales. Mobility and collaboration across locations are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years civil engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years civil engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Master Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years civil engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures; strong computer skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCAD).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate work on civil site development infrastructure systems, including rail and stormwater.
• Coordinate activities of multiple disciplines for projects of significant or moderate scope.
• Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced staff.
• Assist with supervision of staff and task management on major projects.
• Regularly coordinate with design team members, clients, sub-consultants, utility companies or other stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Work with multi-discipline team on site civil design and analysis related to rail projects.
• Apply standard civil engineering techniques and procedures to project tasks.
• Contribute to designing civil project work and deliverables.
• Assist task leaders and project managers with various duties.
• Serve as a team member on multi-discipline projects.
• Collaborate with senior staff on technical aspects of a project.
