Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Freight Rail Engineering Project Manager to lead planning and design efforts for railroad/transit projects across the nation. You will manage scope, fees, staffing, project oversight, quality, and financial performance, with emphasis on rail industrial development.

You will work with a seller/doer team, mentor staff, and drive projects from inception to completion, interfacing with clients and regulatory bodies as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7 years related experience; 15 preferred, including 5+ years in rail engineering or architectural projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred.
• Experience managing rail industrial development design-build projects.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety programs and promote safety performance of the project team and subcontractors.
• Lead multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in rail design and analysis.
• Provide leadership across safety, quality, procurement, construction, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and manage client relationships, proposals, and project-related items.
• Lead risk reviews and coordinate with Legal Department as required.
• Plan, budget, schedule, and set critical project objectives and performance.
• Mentor staff and advance rail engineering technologies.
