Job summary

CPKC seeks a Manager of Signals and Communications to lead a team ensuring reliable S&C systems and yard control networks. You will oversee testing, inspections, commissioning of upgrades, and data gathering for affidavits.

You’ll direct safety leadership, coordinate with field teams, and mentor junior staff while maintaining up-to-date equipment records and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general equivalency.
• 3+ years of railroad experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• AS in Electronics or BS in Electrical Engineering is a bonus.
• Proven track record in planning and executing plans safely.
• Proficient knowledge of S&C equipment and regulatory requirements.
• Good computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support on-call operations (24x7).

Responsibilities

• Directs safety leadership and cultivates continuous improvement in workplace safety.
• Analyzes reported wrong side signal failures to prevent recurrence.
• Ensures S&C systems meet safety standards.
• Approves entry into service of new/modified S&C systems.
• Maintains records of S&C equipment, installations and testing.
• Coordinates with maintenance/construction to maximize productivity.
• Coaches junior S&C employees on technical aspects.
• Distributes S&C alerts and updates with actions taken.
• Uses collective bargaining agreement for work management.
