Job summary

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) is seeking a Manager of Signals and Communications to lead a team responsible for reliable Signals and Communications systems, Radio Shop personnel, and yard control networks to optimize train and equipment movement.

This safety-sensitive role conducts electrical and mechanical testing, inspects and commissions installations, and gathers data for affidavits, with on-call support and a focus on safety, continuous improvement, and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years railway experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Associates in Electronics or BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Strong planning, prioritization, and safety record.
• Proficient knowledge of S&C equipment and regulations.
• Strong computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Willing to support 24x7 on-call operations.

Responsibilities

• Directs safety leadership and cultivates continuous improvement in workplace safety
• Analyzes wrong side signal failures to reduce recurrence
• Ensures S&C systems meet safety standards
• Approves entry into service of new or modified S&C systems
• Maintains records of equipment, installations and testing
• Coordinates activities with maintenance and construction teams
• Coaches junior S&C staff
• Distributes S&C Alerts and updates with field actions
• Uses the collective bargaining agreement for work management
