Job summary

HNTB is seeking an intern to support the ROMP team in rail operations planning and analysis, contributing to large-scale rail projects in the U.S. The role focuses on learning how data tools and modeling inform planning and design decisions, with guidance from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

You will assist with tasks across passenger, freight, and light rail contexts, gaining exposure to planning studies and engineering documentation in a hands-on internship setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program.
• Understanding of engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of railway engineering coursework.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineer teams with tasks, research and design.
• Prepare engineering drawings and documents.
• Support development of planning studies from an operations and data perspective.
• Contribute to rail/transit operations analyses for planning decisions.
