Job summary

Travero in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Conductor/Engineer to manage and operate freight trains safely, performing duties outdoors in all weather. The role features a full-time schedule with a rotating shift pattern and requires adherence to DOT and FRA rules.

You will handle locomotives and rail cars, communicate movements by hand signals or radio, and ensure safe loading, unloading, and car makeup in yards or plants.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements apply.
• Experience with heavy equipment and locomotives is preferred.
• High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and proper operation of trains and equipment.
• Operate locomotives and couple/uncouple cars in yards.
• Communicate movements via hand signals or radio.
• Learn and apply GCOR rules and FRA regulations.
• Work outdoors in all weather with potential weekend/holiday shifts.
