Job summary

Watco is seeking a Conductor/Engineer to control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars at yards, plants, or similar locations. This manual labor role requires proficiency in following switching orders, operating locomotives, and adhering to railroad rules and safety procedures.

Paid on-the-job training is provided. The position offers an hourly pay rate of $22.00–$25.00 and a guaranteed 40-hour work week on an on-call schedule, with opportunities for advancement and development

Qualifications

• Reads, writes, and communicates in English; understands basic math.
• Pass training and required testing during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable attendance.
• Read switching orders and follow instructions.
• Supervise and coordinate train crew activities.
• Operate locomotive and switch cars following safety rules.
• Communicate with engineer, dispatcher, and yard workers via radio/hand signals.
