Job summary

Modern Railway Systems, the systems subsidiary of Stacy Witbeck, is hiring a Project Engineer to support the California High-Speed Rail Track and Systems project. The role involves pre-construction planning, scheduling, cost control, and coordinating with owner reps, subcontractors, and vendors in a dynamic, mentorship-driven environment.

You will contribute to planning, cost control, and progress tracking while growing into a leadership role within Modern Railway Systems.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience as a Field Engineer or similar construction/project delivery role.
• Strong understanding of project document control procedures and processes.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suites, Teams.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License in good standing.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work onsite in the Sacramento office and travel as needed for project, training, and company events.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction Activities: Project start-up tasks to include estimating support, development of project management and administrative processes.
• Planning & Scheduling: Develop project schedules, 4-week look-ahead schedules, and monitor progress.
• Subcontractor Coordination: Support and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work on schedule and within budget.
• Cost Control & Quantity Takeoffs: Track quantities, perform cost coding, prepare monthly cost projections, and manage material procurement.
