Compensation: $105,000 - $140,000 / year

Description

Modern Railway Systems, the systems subsidiary of Stacy Witbeck, is hiring a Project Engineer to help deliver our work on the historic California High-Speed Rail Track and Systems project. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team that prioritizes agency, mentorship, training, and collaboration in an engaging work environment. The project is currently in pre‑construction phase, with great opportunity to build your skills, grow your career, and potentially build and lead a team. We are looking for a teammate who brings self‑starting energy and can contribute quickly. The project will include typical pre‑construction and construction management tasks such as planning, cost controls, scheduling, interaction with owner reps, subcontractors, vendors, and much more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preconstruction Activities: Project start‑up tasks including estimating support and development of project management and administrative processes.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Collaborate with project team members to develop project schedules, 4‑week look‑ahead schedules, and monitor progress.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Support and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Cost Control & Quantity Takeoffs: Track quantities, perform cost coding, prepare monthly cost projections, and manage material procurement.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Education: B.S. Degree in Construction Management or other relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent years of experience in a related field.

Requirements
  • 3‑7 years of experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant PM, or similar construction/project delivery role.
  • Strong understanding of project document control procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suites, Teams.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License in good standing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Sacramento office and travel as needed for project, training, and company events.
