Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews on freight trains, place rail cars for loading/unloading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards or customer facilities. New hires will attend four weeks of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center in Atlanta, GA, with training and on-the-job pay as described.

Relocation assistance is not offered; candidates must live within the posting area or relocate within 50 miles.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• One year of related experience.
• High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution.
• Ability to read and comprehend all instructions including operating rules, bulletins, regulatory documents and other written communications.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate train crews while complying with railroad and safety rules and FRA regulations.
• Inspect all equipment on cars prior to departures.
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone.
• Read and understand bulletins, work orders, and switch lists.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling of cars and operating switches.
