Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews on freight trains, place rail cars for loading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards and facilities. A video overview is available on the posting.

New hires will undergo four weeks of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center in Atlanta, GA. Applicants must pass a drug test, medical exam, and background check, and live within 50 miles or relocate accordingly. Biweekly earnings are detailed in the posting.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• One year of related experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating rules, bulletins, and other written communications.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad and safety rules, FRA regulations, railroad signals, and train orders.
• Be able to safely perform all job responsibilities.
• Inspect all equipment on cars prior to departures.
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone.
• Read and understand bulletins, work orders, and switch lists.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling of cars, operate switches, and make minor repairs to railcars.
