Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, assemble trains, and perform switching in rail yards or customer facilities. This role requires strict adherence to FRA rules, safety procedures, and the ability to operate in varying weather and shift conditions.

New hires undergo four weeks of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center, with hotel and meal allowances, and an on-the-job training progression.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Proven ability to read and comprehend operating rules and bulletins
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad/safety rules, FRA regulations, signals and train orders
• Inspect equipment prior to departures and assist with switching and car handling
• Coordinate with yardmasters, dispatchers and locomotive engineers to move cars accurately
• Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and ensuring proper car placement
• Operate locomotives with remote control and understand color/hand signals
