Job summary

CSX is hiring a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, move rail cars for loading/unloading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards and customer facilities. Training occurs at the Atlanta CT Center, with a mix of classroom, simulations, and hands-on work, plus a 4-week paid program and travel considerations.

New hires receive retention bonuses after year 1 and year 2, with potential higher amounts based on location.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• One year of related experience.
• High School Diploma/GED and ability to read and comprehend instructions including operating rules and bulletins.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad and safety rules, FRA regulations, and train orders.
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures.
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone.
• Read and understand bulletins, work orders, and switch lists.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling of cars and operate switches.
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars.
