Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, place rail cars for loading/unloading, and makeup/break down trains in yard or customer facilities. New hires may have relocation within 50 miles, and all trainees will undergo four weeks of paid training in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations, inspecting equipment, and maintaining clear communications by radio and telephone.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• One year of related experience.
• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating rules, bulletins, and other written communications.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate train crews and ensure safety rules are followed.
• Inspect equipment and read/understand bulletins and switch lists.
• Operate with radio/phone communications and coordinate with yardmasters.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling and operate switches; perform minor repairs.
• Ensure accurate movement and placement of cars and provide good customer service.
• Comply with FRA regulations and safety procedures.
• Work in varying shifts and potentially travel as required.
