Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. is seeking a Trainee Certified Operator to join our field teams with travel across the eastern or western US for extended assignments. You will train at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection to become a Certified Professional Operator.

Upon certification you may lead a crew or run a testing platform, with travel and lodging paid by Sperry, and a clear path for career growth in a global rail diagnostics leader.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Basic computer proficiency is required.
• Ability to multitask and work with tools/equipment is required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods and procedures across Short Line and Class I railways.
• Achieve certification in ultrasonic testing and apply skills in the field.
• Work collaboratively as part of a crew and develop leadership to eventually lead a team.
• Gain knowledge of Sperry’s diagnostic technologies and interfaces.
• Adhere to railroad operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Apply classroom and field training during extended travel assignments (3–4 months).
