Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. seeks a Certified Operator Trainee to join our field teams across the eastern and western United States. This paid training role begins at Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection, with travel to multiple job sites and hands-on experience in ultrasonic testing.

Upon training completion, you may lead a crew or operate your own testing platform as a Certified Operator, with opportunities for career growth within a global organization.

Qualifications

• Must have basic computer skills and be able to learn new systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication are essential.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in field assignments.
• Must be able to pass background checks, drug screening, and DOT physical where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods and procedures across railways.
• Achieve certification in ultrasonic testing standards.
• Work collaboratively as part of a crew and develop leadership skills.
• Gain knowledge of Sperry’s diagnostic technologies and interfaces.
• Develop mechanical aptitude including equipment setup and basic repairs.
• Adhere to railroad operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Apply training during extended travel assignments (3–4 months).
