Sperry Rail, Inc. Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a Railbound Certified Operator Trainee. The role is field-based with extensive travel, and training occurs at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection. You will progress from Trainee to Certified Operator, potentially leading a crew after certification.

Paid training at $20.00/hour during the program, followed by a base salary of $60,000/year upon certification. Travel and lodging are paid by Sperry, with a clear career path offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum required High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organization and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to travel extensively and work on a locomotive.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods and procedures across railways.
• Achieve certification in ultrasonic testing standards.
• Work in a crew and develop leadership to eventually lead a team.
• Travel to multiple job sites as field-based work locations.
