Sperry Rail, Inc. is seeking a Certified Trainee/Apprentice to be trained into a Professional Operator in Rail Flaw Detection. This high-travel, field-based role requires extensive eastern or western US travel for extended periods, with paid training and a path to lead a crew.

Initial compensation includes $20.00 per hour during training, rising to a $60,000 annual base salary after certification. Sperry covers travel and lodging for assignments.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Comfort with travel and field work across multiple sites.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods and procedures for railways.
• Achieve ultrasonic testing certification and apply field skills.
• Collaborate as part of a crew and develop leadership abilities.
• Gain knowledge of Sperry’s diagnostic technologies and interfaces.
• Develop mechanical aptitude for equipment setup and repairs.
• Follow railroad safety protocols and procedures.
• Travel for 3–4 month field assignments across regions.
