Job summary

Sperry Rail Service is seeking a Certified Trainee/Apprentice for a field-based role across the eastern and western US with extended travel (3–4 months at a time). You will be trained at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection and developed into a Certified Professional Operator in the RFD NDT field, with hands-on field experience and progression into leadership.

During training you will earn $20.00 per hour; after promotion you will receive a $60,000 annual base salary, with travel and lodging

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel frequently (3–4 months at a time).
• Ability to pass a background check and a DOT physical (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods and procedures across railways.
• Achieve certification in ultrasonic testing standards in the field.
• Work as part of a crew and develop leadership skills for future roles.
• Gain knowledge of Sperry's diagnostic technologies and interfaces.
• Develop basic repairs and troubleshooting skills for equipment.
• Adhere to railroad operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Apply training during extended travel assignments (3–4 months).
