Job summary

L.B. Foster Company is seeking a Field Service Technician I to assist in the manufacture, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of wayside equipment. You will work on US/Canada sites and occasionally internationally, adhering to safety standards and AAR WABL compliance.

The role demands travel up to 75% and involves hands-on electrical, mechanical, and electronic tasks, including soldering, calibration, and tool usage, with safety as a core focus.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years field service experience preferred
• Mechanical, electrical or electronic experience preferred
• US Passport or ability to be granted a US Passport
• Valid Driver's license and clean driving record
• Travel up to 75%
• Safety Critical Position – pass pre-employment and random drug screenings
• Previous exposure to PPE-required work environments

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration and upkeep of LB Foster wayside equipment on customer railroads domestically and internationally
• Prepare rails by drilling and surface finishing to ensure alignment
• Calibrate systems using proprietary tools and test equipment
• Travel extensively across North America and occasionally overseas
• Follow safety rules and ISO quality processes, report expenses on time
• Operate company vehicles and use PPE as required
