Job summary

HDR Rail is seeking a Rail Engineering Intern/Engineer‑in‑Training in Albuquerque to participate in planning, design and field activities for a range of rail projects. The role offers mentorship from seasoned engineers and exposure to track facilities, civil infrastructure and environmental services.

You will gain experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D and GIS while supporting calculations, drawings and cost estimates.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
MS Office Applications experience.
Strong interest in railroad design.

Responsibilities

Support the planning, design, construction and delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
Assist with technical deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, exhibits and cost estimates.
Contribute to projects involving track, facilities, structures, civil infrastructure, environmental services, construction field services, and advisory support.
Participate in site visits, field assessments, inspections, and project walkthroughs.
Utilize engineering, design and analytical tools to support project development and delivery.
Research and apply applicable codes, standards, regulations and client requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, advisory, technology and construction disciplines.
Work with experienced engineers, project managers and technical specialists to develop skills.
Travel periodically for project meetings and field assignments.
