Job summary

Amtrak in the Washington, DC area seeks a Sr Construction Safety Manager to lead safety programs for the Capital Delivery group. You will conduct site inspections, enforce safety standards, and partner with project teams to identify and control risks while driving continuous improvement in field safety performance.

This role requires rail-industry knowledge, strong leadership, and certifications such as CSP, CHST, OSHA 30.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 11+ years of relevant experience preferred.
• 9 years of prior relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular job site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Track results and activity for project safety and incidents across CAPD construction projects.
• Identify unsafe conditions and ensure immediate corrective actions.
• Review and enforce site-specific safety work plans.
• Monitor compliance with FRA, OSHA and other regulatory standards.
• Provide expert guidance on high-risk operations (e.g., trenching, fall protection, cranes).
• Coordinate with Amtrak Corporate EHS and safety personnel to plan safe work methods.

Bachelor’s Degree

11+ years of relevant experience preferred
