Job summary

CPKC is hiring for a conductor role, based in the U.S. North Dakota region, with paid training and opportunities for advancement. You will work as part of a train crew, switching rail cars, handling yard movements, and ensuring safety under GCOR rules.

This position requires endurance, willingness to work long shifts, and outdoor work in all weather. A successful candidate must pass pre-employment checks and be prepared for unscheduled shifts and travel.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work and operate in a 24/7 environment.
• Willingness to work unscheduled shifts, long hours, and outdoor conditions.
• Strong focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Work in train or yard service depending on seniority.
• Carry out instructions for train routes and movements.
• Coordinate switching of cars and signaling to crew.
• Observe and relay signals affecting train movement.
• Maintain knowledge of GCOR and safety bulletins.
• Provide flag protection and relay signals in emergencies.
• Move on/off equipment and complete reports.
