Job summary

Watco is hiring for a conductor/engineer to control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars at yards, industrial plants, or similar locations. This on-call, manual labor role requires reading orders, signaling, and following safety rules to service customers.

Hourly pay is $22.00 with a guaranteed 40 hours per week. The position includes on-the-job training with peer trainers and opportunities for advancement within Watco’s network of short line railroads and switching sites.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass training and required testing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable attendance.
• Read, write and communicate in English; understand basic math.
• Supervise and coordinate train crews.
• Operate locomotive per railroad rules and signals.
• Read switching orders and follow instructions for switching cars.
• Maintain records of cars switched and cargo.
