Job summary

Top Prospect Group is seeking an experienced Rail Car Operations Supervisor to oversee daily repair, maintenance, and technical operations at our active rail car facility on Pitkin Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. This hands-on leadership position requires a mechanical background and experience in rail transportation, automotive, aerospace, or industrial equipment service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in production, quality, maintenance, or engineering; OR 3 years of mechanical/technical supervisory experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
• Experience supervising technicians, mechanics, maintenance personnel, or production teams.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience maintaining documentation and operational records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer reporting systems.
• Familiarity with English and Metric measurement systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily repair, maintenance, and technical operations in an active rail car facility.
• Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate technical and clerical personnel.
• Coordinate daily activities involving rail cars delivered to the customer.
• Establish and enforce work standards, productivity, and safety procedures.
• Review completed work for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Manage labor hours, schedules, timekeeping, and overtime to meet budgets.
• Coordinate technicians, parts, vendors, and subcontractors for repairs and modifications.
• Monitor vendor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Prepare daily schedules, progress reports, vouchers, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Customer reps to resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate service records and safety/environmental documentation.
