Job summary

Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation LLC seeks an operations leader to oversee railcar repair crews across assigned worksites, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance while delivering on-time repairs and accurate reporting.

The role manages 2-20+ direct reports, coordinates with railroad leadership, schedules work, reviews bills, and executes training and performance evaluations to drive reliable, compliant results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in the railcar repair industry.
• Supervisory experience in a machine shop or manufacturing setting.
• Undergraduate degree, technical school degree or equivalent experience.
• Basic competency with Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Must have a valid driver’s license; MVR check will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Manage 2-20+ direct reports.
• Establish, prioritize and assign work schedules and performance expectations.
• Interact with railroad leadership to coordinate railcar locations and crew activities.
• Oversee day-to-day safety compliance.
• Directly participate in completing railcar repairs as needed.
• Purchase supplies, tools and safety equipment within budget.
• Review billing cards and submit bills to central office.
• Create estimates for customers; interview, hire, coach and discipline.
• Conduct performance appraisals and training throughout the year.
• Respond to FRA and AAR audits appropriately.
• Maintain a clean work environment and oversee vehicle maintenance.
• All other duties as assigned by management.
