PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and policy requirements.
Assists physicians in performing all types of interventional radiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality control of the radiological equipment in accordance with FMC policies, procedures and training. Assists with the inventory and ordering of supplies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs activities necessary for patient and procedure room preparation for radiology procedures, complying with policies and regulations.
- Reviews patient procedure orders to determine needed materials and supplies.
- Prepares and stocks the procedure room with supplies and equipment; cleans the room post-procedure.
- Prepares the patient for procedures, including positioning, shaving, and prepping.
- Transfers and positions patients; transports them to and from the procedure room.
- Inputs patient data into the C-Arm system.
- Acts as scrub assistant during interventional procedures under fluoroscopy, maintaining sterile technique.
- Ensures patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Handles intravenous medication preparation and labeling.
- Processes and archives x-ray images according to policies and regulations.
- Supports quality standards and regulatory compliance, participating in CQI initiatives.
- Maintains accurate medical records and ensures proper documentation.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment; inspects and maintains equipment.
- Participates in meetings, training, and staff communication.
- Assists with inventory management and supply re-stocking.
- Acts as Radiation Safety Officer, monitoring badges and conducting safety in-services.
- Participates in regulatory and accreditation surveys.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work environment typical of healthcare facilities; may involve exposure to infectious materials.
- Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; transfer and position patients up to 400 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods, including wearing protective aprons.
- 10% travel required.
SUPERVISION:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
- ARRT Certification and state licensure required; interventional radiology certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 4-6 years' related experience desirable; at least 1 year with ARRT certification considered.
- Knowledge of interventional equipment, sterile techniques, and procedures.
- Experience with C-Arm and ultrasound equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of safety precautions and protective devices.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experience with inventory management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
