Purpose and Scope

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist physicians in performing all types of interventional radiology procedures.
- Operate and ensure quality control of radiological equipment in accordance with FMC policies, procedures, and training.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies.
- Prepare the patient and procedure room for radiology procedures, in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Review patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials and supplies.
- Set up/stocks the procedure room with supplies and equipment prior to procedures and clean the room afterwards.
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and address concerns.
- Assist with patient preparation, including positioning, shaving, and prepping.
- Perform patient transfers and positioning, and transport patients to and from the procedure room.
- Input patient data into the C-Arm.
- Act as scrub assistant during interventional procedures under fluoroscopy, maintaining sterile technique.
- Comply with HIPAA policies regarding patient confidentiality.
- Draw up and label intravenous medications as per policies.
- Process and archive x-ray images according to policies and regulations.
- Support quality standards and regulatory requirements, participating in CQI activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the environment and proper functioning of equipment.
- Assist with equipment replacement, repairs, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in meetings and communicate effectively with physicians.
- Assist in training new employees and ensuring billing accuracy.
- Manage inventory and supplies efficiently.
- Serve as Radiation Safety Officer, monitor badges, and conduct safety in-services.
- Participate in regulatory and accreditation surveys and address deficiencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Work environment typical of a healthcare facility, with temperature control and moderate noise.
- Potential exposure to infectious materials.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds, and perform patient transfers.
- Stand in protective apron for up to 60 minutes.
- Travel up to 10%.
Supervision

Education
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
- Must have ARRT Certification and be licensed as a Radiology Technician by the Department of Health.
- Interventional Radiology certification preferred.
Experience and Skills
- 4-6 years' related experience desirable; ARRT-certified candidates with at least 1 year of experience considered.
- Knowledge of interventional equipment, sterile techniques, and procedures.
- Experience with C-Arm procedures.
- Knowledge of safety precautions and protective devices.
- Successful BLS certification.
- Inventory management experience.
- Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
