Purpose and Scope

Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and policy requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist physicians in performing all types of interventional radiology procedures.
  2. Operate and ensure quality control of radiological equipment in accordance with FMC policies, procedures, and training.
  3. Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies.
  4. Prepare the patient and procedure room for radiology procedures, in compliance with policies and regulations.
  5. Review patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials and supplies.
  6. Set up/stocks the procedure room with supplies and equipment prior to procedures and clean the room afterwards.
  7. Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and address concerns.
  8. Assist with patient preparation, including positioning, shaving, and prepping.
  9. Perform patient transfers and positioning, and transport patients to and from the procedure room.
  10. Input patient data into the C-Arm.
  11. Act as scrub assistant during interventional procedures under fluoroscopy, maintaining sterile technique.
  12. Comply with HIPAA policies regarding patient confidentiality.
  13. Draw up and label intravenous medications as per policies.
  14. Process and archive x-ray images according to policies and regulations.
  15. Support quality standards and regulatory requirements, participating in CQI activities.
  16. Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  17. Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the environment and proper functioning of equipment.
  18. Assist with equipment replacement, repairs, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  19. Participate in meetings and communicate effectively with physicians.
  20. Assist in training new employees and ensuring billing accuracy.
  21. Manage inventory and supplies efficiently.
  22. Serve as Radiation Safety Officer, monitor badges, and conduct safety in-services.
  23. Participate in regulatory and accreditation surveys and address deficiencies.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Work environment typical of a healthcare facility, with temperature control and moderate noise.
  • Potential exposure to infectious materials.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds, and perform patient transfers.
  • Stand in protective apron for up to 60 minutes.
  • Travel up to 10%.
Supervision

None

Education
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Must have ARRT Certification and be licensed as a Radiology Technician by the Department of Health.
  • Interventional Radiology certification preferred.
Experience and Skills
  • 4-6 years' related experience desirable; ARRT-certified candidates with at least 1 year of experience considered.
  • Knowledge of interventional equipment, sterile techniques, and procedures.
  • Experience with C-Arm procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and protective devices.
  • Successful BLS certification.
  • Inventory management experience.
  • Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
