Job Description

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Ensures radiologic services comply with relevant laws and regulations, and provides consultation to patients and radiology staff. Delivers patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, embodying Jefferson’s values.
• Position radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce diagnostically useful images.
• Explain radiographic procedures to patients, obtaining complete and accurate medical histories.
• Communicate effectively with patients.
• Follow radiation safety standards, including shielding and apron placement, to protect staff and patients.
• Adhere to local, state, and national regulations, standards, and protocols for radiologic services.
• Maintain and test x-ray equipment regularly, documenting results.
• Ensure accurate patient and study data for billing and RIS/PACS systems, maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance tasks.
• Maintain continuing education requirements for licensure and job performance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate of an approved ARRT radiologic technologist program or current validated ARRT registry in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
• CPR certification required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of RIS and PACS systems.
