Job Description

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Position radiographic equipment or x-ray film appropriately to produce images with necessary detail or contrast for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explain radiographic procedures to patients, obtain complete and accurate medical histories relevant to the examination.
  • Communicate effectively with patients.
  • Ensure staff and patient protection according to prescribed radiation safety standards, including the use of shields and aprons to limit exposure.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with local, state, and national regulations, standards, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging.
  • Maintain x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, documenting results.
  • Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance and control tasks.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements for licenses and job positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved ARRT program or current validated ARRT Registry in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
  • CPR Certification is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of RIS systems.
  • Knowledge of PACS systems.
