The Jefferson Health RadForce Team is a dynamic, internal workforce comprised of our most skilled technologists in all modalities. RadForce Technologists are strategically deployed across the Jefferson Health system to support areas with the highest demand, ensuring optimal care and operational efficiency.

Technologists are hired into tiers based on the distance traveled:

  1. Tier 1: Float within 1 Region
  2. Tier 2: Float between 2 Regions
  3. Tier 3: Float between 3 Regions

Regions include:

  • North Region: Abington, Lansdale, Torresdale, Bucks, Frankford, Einstein Montgomery
  • Central Region: TJUH, Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, Methodist, Einstein Main Hospital
  • East Region: Cherry Hill, Stratford, Washington Township

Job Description

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is responsible for operating interventional radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic and interventional images under the direction of a radiologist. They work with the radiologic care team, including physicians, nurses, and other technologists, to perform specialized examinations. They use good judgment in patient care and education before, during, and after procedures. They may mentor less experienced IR technologists or technologists in training.

Essential Functions

  • Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, reflecting Jefferson's values.
  • Perform interventional procedures such as vascular angiography, drainage, biopsies, nephrostomies, catheter insertions, vascular embolization, and others under physician direction.
  • Maintain critical positioning of patients and equipment during contrast flow to ensure safety and exam success.
  • Test equipment like contrast media injectors and program selectors for proper function prior to examinations.
  • Determine equipment needs based on physician diagnoses and scout films.
  • Follow radiation safety standards to protect staff and patients.
  • Maintain radiographic and lab equipment and examination rooms.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of needles, catheters, sterile techniques, and drugs used in exams.
  • Knowledge of procedures, equipment, and hospital policies.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an approved ARRT program or validated ARRT Registry in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
  • Two years of hospital interventional radiography experience preferred.

Certifications, Registration, or Licenses

  • Advanced ARRT certification preferred.
