Job Description

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. They execute radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provide consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. They also deliver patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
2. Position radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast for diagnosis and treatment.
3. Explain radiographic procedures to patients and obtain complete and accurate histories relevant to the examination.
4. Communicate effectively with patients.
5. Provide staff and patient protection according to radiation safety standards, including shielding.
6. Implement and monitor compliance with local, state, and national regulations and clinical protocols.
7. Maintain x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, and document results.
8. Update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy, maintaining patient confidentiality.
9. Perform other related duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance activities.
10. Maintain continuing education required for licenses and job positions.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or hold a current validated ARRT Registry in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
• CPR Certification required.
