Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist for the Gulf Breeze, FL area. The role involves day shift duties in a satellite facility, performing imaging procedures and ensuring patient safety and data accuracy.

You will position patients, operate imaging equipment, and work within state and federal regulations. The job emphasizes quality image submission to PACS and collaboration with the radiology team.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire or transfer date (AHA/Red Cross accepted).
• Credential options: Cardiographic Tech (CCI), Radiologic Technologist (Florida RT), Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (ARRT), Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).

Responsibilities

• Prepares and positions patients for imaging and selects exposure factors accurately.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and medications per scope of practice and regulations.
• Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity; monitors and updates protocols as needed.
• Follows radiation safety procedures to prevent unnecessary exposure.
• Ensures high-quality images and documents are sent to PACS with correct markers and patient data/history.
• Ensures equipment functions properly and reports issues; locks/tags out when appropriate.
• Maintains a clean, organized department including rooms, storage, and dressing areas.
• Positions patients and selects anatomical/technical parameters accurately.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepares and positions patients for imaging and selects exposure factors accurately.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
• Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
• Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
• Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
• Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
• Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist credentialed from the Florida Radiologic Technology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
