Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an MRI Department assistant at Danbury Hospital. The role supports technologists during MRI procedures to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality imaging.

Responsibilities include patient prep, accuracy in Cerner tasks, and assisting radiologists. Ideal candidates have a HS diploma and up to six months of experience in radiology; familiarity with anatomy and departmental procedures is a plus.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–6 months minimum experience.
• Desirable: anatomy knowledge and familiarity with department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and direct flow from waiting rooms to exam rooms.
• Review prescriptions to ensure appropriate exam planning.
• Order and complete Cerner functions.
• Prepare patient and room for procedure.
• Assist technologist and radiologist during the procedure.
• Retrieve x-rays and medical records and develop radiographs as needed.
• Deliver films to radiologist for evaluation.
• Maintain cleanliness of exam room and restock supplies.
• Adhere to compliance responsibilities associated with the role.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

Assist technologists during procedures in order to expedite the best diagnosis to patient and deliver quality care.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, directs patient flow from waiting rooms to exam rooms. Has patient fill out proper forms if applicable.
• Evaluates patient prescriptions to ensure proper exam is performed pertaining to individual ailment.
• Orders and completes all cerner functions.
• Changes patient and prepares patient for procedure.
• Performs exam with technologist and offers assistance to patient, technologist, & radiologist throughout entire procedure.
• Retrieves x-rays, medical records, nuclear medicine reports and develops radiographs as needed.
• Brings films to radiologist to evaluate.
• Cleans exam room following procedures and restocks used materials.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
