Job summary

Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital is seeking a qualified Radiology Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging using ionizing radiation across multiple modalities, while ensuring patient safety and high-quality image production. The role requires adherence to PACS/Meditech workflows and collaboration with radiologists.

Responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date imaging skills, following ALARA principles, and delivering excellent patient care in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited radiologic program.
• ARRT registration or registry-eligible.
• New graduate or 1 year of general radiology experience; pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill levels in imaging modalities (Portable, C-arm, Fluoroscopy, DR, CR) and QC; follows safety and reporting procedures; uses PACS/Meditech workflows.
• Demonstrates Radiation and MRI safety techniques to minimize hazards (ALARA, dosimetry, shielding, collimation).
• Performs correct exams on correct patients using two identifiers and verifies physician orders.
• Follows PACS/Meditech workflow; timely data entry and accurate patient tracking; reports issues as needed.
• Consults with radiologist to set scanning parameters for trauma or difficult studies.
• Coordinates examinations with MD/PA, ensures timely and proficient daily operations.
• Delivers excellent patient care; communicates with patients to explain exams within scope of practice.
• HIPAA compliance and professional patient interaction; maintains confidentiality.
• Promotes teamwork and lean principles; supports department goals and continuous improvement.
• Mentors students/trainees and participates in departmental education.
• Uses hospital resources responsibly and seeks efficient solutions for workflow and cost-effectiveness.
• Develops and supports quality assurance and safety reporting as required.
