Job summary

DCH Health System is seeking a capable Scheduling Clerk to arrange outpatient appointments for tests, treatments, and procedures. You will coordinate with multiple departments to ensure expeditious, friendly, and accurate scheduling for patients and physicians.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and customer service skills.
• Efficient in using office equipment, computers and keyboard operations.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Takes telephone reservations from doctors, patients and others as appropriate.
• Coordinates reservation information to other departments via Meditech, email, orders, letters, calls, faxes and Audix messages.
• Anticipates scheduling conflicts and edits schedules as requested by area supervisors.
• Responds to information requests pertaining to reservations.
• Obtains and records precertification numbers for tests requiring precertification.
• Works with multiple facility modalities and department requirements.
• Schedules, orders and edits exams across radiology, neurology, pulmonary, cardiology, respiratory and nutrition consults.
• Understands charges and follows billing practices.
• Uses I Care principles to ensure proper patient identification and communication.
