Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical terminology knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Good customer service is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to be cross-trained to other areas.
• Organizational skills are necessary.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Ability to communicate clearly with nursing, admin, and physicians

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values to others.
• Demonstrates high quality service and telephone etiquette with dignity and respect.
• Ensures patient confidentiality per HIPAA policies.
• Obtains required patient demographic information for registration.
• Communicates with doctors to obtain orders when missing or for medical necessity.
• Reviews financial information and insurance details for registration.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Explains rates and hospital policy on up-front collections as needed.
• Handles cash batches and receipts accurately.
• Determines financial status and refers for financial screening as appropriate.
• Performs appointment scheduling and registers patients for services.
• Initiates order management to enter patient orders.
• Reviews prior records to determine status of balances.
• Supports payment collection from patients and posting to accounts.
• Ensures referrals/pre-authorization requirements are met.
• Completes MSP forms when appropriate.
• Provides patients with Admissions documents and collects signatures.
• Scans IDs and insurance cards into Reg/Assist.
• Prints forms and labels; uses Form Fast as needed.
• Verifies patient identifiers and reconciles cash drawer.
• Completes daily patient logs and reports.
• Communicates scheduling information to departments.
