Job summary

Gonzaba Medical Group is seeking a Radiology IT Support Specialist to bridge Radiology Operations and Information Technology. You will manage PACS, RIS, DICOM workflows, and ensure image integrity and connectivity across modalities, radiologists, and external systems.

You will troubleshoot PACS/RIS issues, provide user training, develop documentation, and coordinate system upgrades with vendors. Travel between imaging locations may be required as part of after-hours support.

Qualifications

General Summary:Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Radiology IT Support Specialist serves as the primary liaison between Radiology Operations and Information Technology to support imaging operations. This role is responsible for the management, maintenance, support, and optimization of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and related imaging systems while ensuring efficient workflow, system functionality, image integrity, and connectivity across imaging modalities, radiologists, providers, and external systems. Additionally, this role also provides general technical support, troubleshooting, and training to employees.Supervisory Responsibilities:General Requirements:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.Manage and maintain PACS, RIS, and associated imaging systems by monitoring system performance, connectivity, and image workflow.Support imaging workflow for all radiology modalities including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology.Troubleshoot PACS/RIS issues including image routing, worklists, interfaces, and user access.Support DICOM, HL7, and interface connectivity between modalities and systems.Provides general IT support including troubleshooting services and employee training on computer hardware, software, and other equipment.Must be able to follow, implement, and create detailed instructions.Must be able to independently travel throughout the day from site to site.Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Job Responsibilities:Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and maintenance with vendors and IT.Provide operational support to radiologists, technologists, and clinical staff.Monitor IT ticket queues, resolve assigned issues according to departmental requirements, and maintain accurate documentation of support activities.Train staff on PACS/RIS system functionality.Develop user guides, workflow documentation, and training materials.Works with the IT support team, both internal and contracted, to support deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades of any radiology software and hardware.Education and Training:Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, or related field preferred.Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) preferredExperience:Minimum 3-5 years of radiology operations experience preferred.Experience supporting teleradiology workflows and remote reading environments preferred.Experience with radiology imaging systems and modalities.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Experience:Minimum 3-5 years of radiology operations experience preferred.Experience supporting teleradiology workflows and remote reading environments preferred.Experience with radiology imaging systems and modalities.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Other Requirements:Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of PACS, RIS, DICOM, HL7, and imaging workflows. Experience with GE PACS, MedQ, PowerScribe, Athena, or similar systems preferred. Knowledge of healthcare IT infrastructure, networking, and troubleshooting.Work Environment:Healthcare and imaging center environment. May require occasional after-hours support for system upgrades or critical issues.Mental / Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
