Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking a CT Scan Technologist for weekend night shifts in North Bergen, NJ. You will perform CT procedures, manage contrast, and ensure image quality for radiologist interpretation.

The role requires ARRT (CT) and NJ licensure, BLS, and 1 year CT experience (2 years preferred). Knowledge of PACS and Epic/HIS/RIS is beneficial; weekend shifts are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year CT experience; 2 years preferred.
• NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License required; ARRT R.T.(R) license required.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiographic positioning.
• Understanding CT software and hardware.
• Thorough knowledge of PACS system.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures and generate sectional/3D images for interpretation.
• Review patient history and document data in EMR/PACS.
• Administer and select contrast according to CT protocols under a licensed practitioner.
• Verify prescriptions, obtain clarifications with Radiologist/Physician as needed.
• Ensure accuracy of patient identification and image labeling in PACS.
• Support patient preparation and comfort, including shielding and immobilization.

Description:The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.Performs complex CT procedures.Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patients' clinical history for procedures.Ensures information is documented and scanned into PACS.Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient and/or family member and scans into EMR.Identifies and/or administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.Reviews the patient prescription to verify appropriateness of the exam.If incorrect, communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician to obtain additional clinical information or a new prescription.Responsible for calling physicians to clarify the prescription in accordance with the appropriate CT protocols.Responsible for verifying insurance authorized exam scripts and sending exam modification forms for insurance re-verification.Obtains outside studies and schedules them to ensure availability for Radiologists.Responsible for providing exam copies to the patient and requesting physician and/or family member.Evaluates radiographs using PACS to ensure that radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and healthcare providers.Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.Preps the patient for scanning including shielding and immobilization devices.Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered.Provides accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand.Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure when appropriate.Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.Monitors the patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure.Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs.Communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their developmental or educational level.Adheres to the standards identified in the organization's competencies and standards of behavior.Maintains CEU credits.Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months following their hire date.Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS system is preferred.Six months CT experience is preferred.ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license is preferred.
