  • One of the following: Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) or Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Description:To provide diagnostic Computed Tomography services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the direction of the supervising radiologist in accordance with established operating procedures and clinical protocols.To provide safe, prompt, efficient, and cost-effective CT services.Positions patients correctly using proper immobilization techniques.Performs optimal scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols based on the patient diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information.Utilizes correct technical factors in accordance with the American College of Radiology guidelines to ensure the lowest amount of radiation is used for diagnostic scans.Performs CT angiography, 3D, MIPS, VR, vessel analysis, and MPR's, as well as post-processing of computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation.Follows correct CT Department Technologist workflow, including selecting the correct scan room, identifying and documenting patient identification, acquiring patient history, verifying orders, scanning patients, sending images to PACS, scanning paperwork and data sheets, completing cases in Meditech, addressing QA issues, charging for contrast media and supplies, verifying images and series sent to PACS, and archiving images.Operates support equipment for CT such as independent workstations, pressure injectors, PACS, and EPIC systems.Initiates IV for administration of contrast media in accordance with department policy and utilizing standard precautions.Prepares patients for exams by explaining procedures and encouraging questions, as well as addressing any concerns patients may have.Transports patients to and from departments when necessary.Assists in the transfer of patients on and off the CT table.Continually monitors patient conditions during CT procedures.Works with radiologists to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements.Refers difficult complaints or sensitive issues to department management.Accountable for documentation and charging for supplies used during exams or procedures.Documents confidential patient history to ensure appropriateness of exams and contrast media.Records patient charge data, modifying and initiating charges as modifications are made by the radiologist or ordering physician.Documents any allergic reactions, IV extravasations, or unusual occurrences and initiates incident reports regarding staff or patient situations.Maintains license and continuing education.Administers contrast media after proper patient screening.Ensures the proper exam is being administered to the patient and consults with the provider as needed.
