Job description

Overview

Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients for a designated time frame and provides care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute. The patient population consists of those requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies. The technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field
  • or Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
  • Registered in Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA)
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures
  • Effective communication, following directions, and completing detailed work accurately
  • Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others
  • Manual dexterity to handle small supplies
Responsibilities
  • Administers contrast material (when applicable) according to physician’s request and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
  • All functions and duties performed under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist
  • Assists with inventory and supplies
  • Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position
  • Compiles pertinent clinical information for laboratory, pathology, etc.
  • Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary
  • Documents accurately and completely per established policies and procedures
  • Explains procedure to patient and provides patient care—comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality
  • Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist
  • Performs on‑call duties and/or variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs
  • Maintains a sterile field during procedures
  • Administers and holds contrast and treatment as appropriate; assesses patients for allergies
  • Pulls supplies for procedures
  • Takes call within 6 months
  • Cardiac cath lab work, including left heart cath, right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, vascular access, and structural heart procedures such as TAVR, Watchman, MitraClip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, and CardioMEMS
  • Hybrid peripheral vascular work in coordination with vascular surgery (e.g., EVAR, TCAR, TEVAR)
  • Utilizes adjunctive tools such as ICUS, FFR/iFR, lithotripsy, laser, rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $35.62 per hour to $61.27 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and the compensation model.
