Job summary

The Registered Radiologic Technologist at Carle Health assists physicians in invasive heart studies, preparing patients, administering contrast, and ensuring patient safety. This role supports EP procedures and electrophysiology supply needs within the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Required are IL licensure, ARRT registration, ACLS/BLS certifications, and an associate degree in Radiologic Technology. Shift options run 7:00–16:30 or 7:30–17:00 depending on department needs.

Overview

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute. The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology study. The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.

The shift/schedule for this position is 7a-4:30p or 7:30a-5p depending on department need.

Qualifications

Certifications: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Education: Associate's Degree: Radiologic Technology; Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology, Work Experience:

Responsibilities

All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a provider.Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist.Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.Assists with inventory/supplies.Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.Documents accurately and completely.Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.Accurately informs procedural nurse of correct doses of intra-procedural medications, radiation and sponge/sharp counts.Performs late shift duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.Prepare and position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.Prepare and administer medications within accepted scopre of practice.Recognize and adapt to potential changes in procedures while responding to emergent situations.Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures. Administers and with holds contrast and treatment as appropriate. Assess patients for allergies. Has a working knowledge of all Electrophisiology supplies and can pull supplies needed for a variety of procedures. Takes late shift duties as assigned to meet department needs. Skin suturing. Basic knowledge of ECG interpretation. Electrophysiology equipment troubleshooting. Understanding and running the pacing stimulator during ablations and EP studies. Electrophisiology Procedures to include Pacemaker/ICD Insertion, Implanted Loop Removal, Lead Extraction, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, EP Study, and Radiofrequency/Cryo/Pulsed Field Ablation.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $35.62per hour - $61.27per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
